Christmas at Home with Deedee
If there’s one thing I love to do besides shopping, it is decorating. I live for this time of year; where I put on some Christmas music, light a candle, and go to town making our home feel warm and cozy. In years past, I have set out with a natural theme in mind. While I do love a neutral themed Christmas, this year was all about the traditional red. If you know me, the color red is kinda my thing. So, this years Christmas decor feels extra special and extra me!
I use a less is more concept when decorating our entryway table. For ease, I keep the same items there year-round. For instance, the wooden bowl always remains, and I fill it with seasonal items, like these large ornaments. I also love it completely empty too, for a more minimlist look. The map artwork, lamp and frame flow together, so I always leave those there as well.
When decorating a first impression area like an entryway, I like to use large eye-catching items. These tall gold trees were Home Goods finds, and they provide so much emphasis to this area. Draping pre-lit garland is easy when you use Command strips. Intermingle 2-3 strands of different garland to get that plush and full look. Bonus points for throwing in pinecones, ornaments, bells and ribbon or even another string of lights to really make your garland twinkle.
I promise we aren’t this fancy all the time, but I do love a good holiday tablescape. Staying true to my timeless and classic Christmas, I incorporated lots of tartan. Christmas plaid is probably my favorite thing about Christmas, it feels elegant and cozy all at the same time. My fine China, is a mix of vintage Lenox and Spode. The extras, are all Amazon finds, I will link for you below. In our home, I love to take elegant touches and mix in with our already rustic asethetic. That is me in a nutshell, a little country, and a little fancy. This tablescape does just that.

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree! This year, our Christmas tree is my masterpiece. In true Deedee fashion, it is a mix of old and new. While some ornaments I already had on hand, most are new. I sourced ornaments from Hobby Lobby, and thrift stores to get that true classic feel. For this Christmas tree, I felt like more was more. Plaid ribbon and traditional gold beads really added a nod to the vintage feel.
While more was more with the ornaments, I kept the wrapping paper simple with a classic red. Using tulle as ribbon, really added oomph to our presents, and now, I am never turning back with tulle. The wood Christmas tree box, was a request from my husband. He makes all my wood built visions come true!
I have absolutely enjoyed drinking coffee every morning and staring into my Christmas tree. It’s brought me so much joy! Asking for a friend, but how long is acceptable to leave your tree up after Christmas?!? Haha.
We have spent most of our days enjoying our home, and its warmth that all these festive decorations have brought. For me, it’s been more about enjoying the stillness of this year, instead of the hustle and bustle. Whether or not your home is fully decked or not, there are so many ways to find joy this Christmas. Here’s to wishing you and yours many Christmas blessings!
