Pretty Picnic
End of summer is upon us, and like everyone else I’m trying to soak up a few more carefree summer days. My sister and I have started a little tradition to close out one of our favorite seasons. What better way to say goodbye to summertime than with a sweet picnic with some summer inspired fixings.
So grab your gal pals and recreate our easy southern style picnic. It’s sure to impress and takes very little effort! I’m going to show you how it’s done.
We wanted to treat our mom to a full on lunch picnic with a view. So we chose to have it at the picturesque Raffaldini Vineyards.
For an easy picnic let your local deli do the work for you. We chose chicken tenders and macaroni salad from Walmart. Add some summer flavors like strawberries, cantaloupe or watermelon to pair with your picnic. Don’t forget to pick up a jug of lemonade. Nothing says picnic quite like lemonade. For dessert we grabbed lemon bars from the bakery section at Walmart. They paired so well with our summer theme and with the lemonade!
To really get the picnic feel throw down an old blanket, and fill a basket with plaid napkins and glassware.
Funny story about my picnic basket… I found this shopping with my sister in Indiana at an antique store. I scored this cutie for just $12, the funny part is when I had to carry it on the plane home! I have to say it was worth the trouble of traveling with it, because I have used it now for several picnics. It really does add a special touch.
I can’t think of a better way to end summer than with a pretty picnic and your best ladies! Throw on some dresses and enjoy one last sweltering summer day!
