Bozeman, Montana
When I was in 5th grade, we were each assigned a state to study for the whole year. At the end of the year, we were to present our state, and its interesting facts to the class. I bet y’all can guess where this is going… my state was Montana. Safe to say, it’s been a dream of mine to visit Montana, ever since I was assigned one of our nations grandest states!
The hubs and I love the mountains, and we’re happiest driving around exploring new sights. He loves to spot wildlife, and I love to stop for picturesque spots. It’s a win win.
A long day of traveling to the Wild West calls for a low key afternoon. We love to hop in the rental, and just drive around getting to know the area.
We set out to explore Bozeman, and it was better than I imagined. It seems everyone lives on a ranch or farm here. It’s a sure bet they own horses too. I quickly fell in love with all the old barns. We passed so many barns with character, I couldn’t possibly snap a pic of them all. Driving through the Montana countryside you get a sense that you’ve traveled back into a simpler time. I think we can all agree, that’s good for the soul.
There’s nothing like winding down a long travel day with some good food. Downtown Bozeman is filled with cute dinner spots.
Bozeman Food Spots
Montana Ale Works // I came for the cute gram spot but stayed for the enchiladas… and the cocktails. Not to mention they have a killer Happy Hour!
The Farmer’s Daughter Cafe // A great lil lunch spot especially for ladies. Not exactly your husbands dream lunch spot. But if you’re a girls girl and love a good trendy spot, then go, just go!!
Ted’s Montana Grill // I know I know, a little too obvious, but it made my list because it never disappoints. The food is always amazing and so is the service! It’s a Montana staple, therefor you have to go!
Every vacation we have to find a pizza and beer joint, it’s just our thing. I always love to ask locals about the best pizza around. Which brings me to:
Bridger Brewing // Located across the street from Montana State University. So you know if the kids say it’s good, it’s good! Gotta say, the pizza and the craft beer were exactly what our hearts desired.
There’s not a trip I don’t take, that doesn’t involve a little shopping. If you’re a lover of western wear like myself, then be prepared to get your shop on!
Bozeman Shopping
Head West // Name brand western wear like Stetson, Lucchese, and Pendleton sold here. My favorite part about this store is the lower level, it’s where all the sale finds are!
Heyday // This store has a little something for everyone. Lots of cute gift ideas for someone else, or if you just need a special something to commemorate your trip, you can find it here!
Stone Glacier // The hubs scouted this place out because he wanted to see about their sleeping bags; AKA - what Stone Glacier is known for. My husband was impressed with their sleeping bags, and I was impressed with their store branding and cool t-shirts. Just a really neat store for the outdoorsy man in your life!
Not sure I can picture a better place to go horseback riding than Montana. It was my must-do activity, and it did not disappoint. Bozeman has several trail riding ranches nearby. However, this was a last minute trip, so those were all booked up. We lucked up, and found two open spots at Parade Guest Ranch, about an hour and half away from Bozeman, in West Yellowstone. After horseback riding, we checked out the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. It was so cool to see an actual Grizzly bear in person!
Outdoor Activities in/near Bozeman
Sunrise Pack Station // Definitely check this place out if you’re staying in Bozeman, and looking to do a trail ride.
Parade Guest Ranch // We thoroughly enjoyed our two hour trail ride. The guide was amazing, the views were too, and it was so affordable! Pack a small lunch, and enjoy their cute grounds! Located in West Yellowstone.
Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center // For a small admission fee you can see some of the wild’s coolest animals. My favorite part were the otters! Located in West Yellowstone.
Yellowstone National Park // If you’ve made it to West Yellowstone, you’re already really close to the park itself. Making your way out to Yellowstone should be at the TOP of your Bozeman to do list!
While there’s no way to see all of Yellowstone in one day, it is doable to see some highlights of the park in one day! What a full day we had being totally in awe of nature!

You can’t go to Montana without doing a little hiking. I’ve determined every inch of Montana is pure beauty. Don’t worry you will find tons of hiking trails. If all else fails, hop in the rental, and enjoy a scenic drive!
Bozeman Lodging
Residence Inn Bozeman // This is where we stayed and it was in a great spot; a five minute drive from the cute downtown area. This hotel offered many amenities like free breakfast, and a free airport shuttle! Our stay was wonderful and I highly suggest if you’re looking for an economical option.
Kimpton Armory Hotel // If you’re looking for a trendier hotel, than look no further. We walked in to check out the Kimpton and loved the vibe! If we go back I would love to stay here. It’s located within walking distance of downtown.
I’ll leave you with this serene Montana view. That big blue Montana sky is definitely calling your name!
